Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM), Hyderabad hosted its 23rd Annual Convocation ceremony in the presence of leading names from the industry and academia on 22nd of April, 2017. It was a momentous day for 150 new graduates, who have been transformed into professionals with promising careers ahead of them. Many of them have been placed with top names like Deloitte, ICICI Securities and Tech Mahindra, Nestle and the ceremony served as the perfect send off for their professional journeys.
Proceedings began on the D Day as the Academic Procession entered the packed venue. It was led by Mr. Satish Pradhan, Former Advisor and Chief of HR, Tata Sons, who was the Chief Guest for the ceremony, Mr. D N Rao, President, VJIM, Mr. K. Harishchandra Prasad, Chairman, VJIM and Mr. Durga Prasad, Director, VJIM. Proud faculty members and parents looked on as the new graduates lit up the venue with their beaming smiles.
After the traditional lighting of the lamp and invocation of the Goddess of Knowledge, the Convocation Day was officially declared open by Mr. D N Rao. In his Presidential speech he described three important aspects of being a manager. “The best leadership style is very important for a manager to be successful. But when you enter this new stage in your life it’s also crucial to protect the environment,” he urged the students in the gathering.
Mr. Sharath Gopal, governing council member then introduced the celebrated Chief Guest of the evening. He talked about his myriad achievements and set him up as a role model that today’s managers can emulate to scale greater heights of success. Dr. Durga Prasad then presented the highly anticipated Director’s Report for the past year, which had several accolades and achievements for the institute. They were met with a huge round of applause from the audience.

The Director also talked about various initiatives like vision schooling, PMCI analysis, National conference, business conclave and industrial academy brief, which have helped students of the B School to get ready for the challenges of the industry. The results have shown as students were lapped up by big names in the industry during the placement season. The average salary package for the students was a respectable Rs. 4.5 lakhs.
Their efforts had borne fruit and the diplomas they received from the Chief Guest and other dignitaries stood testimony to that. Varun Ramprasad won the VJIM Gold medal for best student in academics, Faculty silver medal for the best all rounder and K. Ramachandra Reddy medal for ethical standards. Several other meritorious students were awarded medals for their performance in their two year stint with the institute.
Mr. Satish Pradhan then took to the stage and addressed the gathering. He inspired the students to attain success in the rapidly changing business environment. “The management at VJIM is your best inspiration and you have been given the perfect platform. You should be ready to take up new challenges and make the most of your opportunities,” he ended on a high note. As the ceremony came to an end, the new graduates posed for pictures and shared memories that will stay with them for long.
