Hyderabad girl G. Vinitha Reddy is fresh out of VJIM, Hyderabad and into the world as an Equity Advisor at Karvy Stock Broking Ltd. Her specialization in PGDM was Finance & HR. After her B.Com from Wesley Degree College, she made her way into VJIM by qualifying MAT exam with 99.96%
On 21st November, 2016, Vinitha sat for Karvy Stock Broking Ltd.’s campus placement drive. She attended a pre-placement talk by the company, followed by a Group Discussion after which she was shortlisted for a written test. The shortlisted students of the written test appeared for the first round of interview after which she was picked.
She says that the major areas on which they test applicants are-
Basic concepts of the subject
Ability to cope up with the schedule of the job
Ability to be in line with the current happenings (Oil & Steel prices fluctuation & their impact on the Indian Economy)
PGDM brought a few changes to her. It made her capable of handling pressure. It taught her acceptance and skilled her better with decision making faculties.
Her Birla Sun Life Insurance’s Summer Internship Project was a great experience that carved her path for the job she is now at. She feels that her SIP will further improve her understanding the professional sphere in a better way and enabled her to exist in the environment with confidence. Her Project Title was “Equity Research On the Indian Pharmaceutical Sector”, whose objective was to Study the Volatility of the Pharma stocks and decide upon the better one, between the Large cap & Mid cap stocks and check whether they were over or underpriced.
Chrysalis of 2015, along with her training sessions (Aptitude, Versant, Domain specific) left a lasting impression on her. Her favourite haunts on campus would be listed as the library, canteen with friends and seminars conducted in the first year. Working on the Term Papers & the PPTs that seemed as an annoyance back then, are now absolutely fond memories.
To bag her spot in the corporate market, she focused on the requirements of the company and framed her answers according to them. She bent according to their rules, which did the trick. They required people who were ready to re locate and “readiness” was a big tick in her favour. Adding more, she asks her juniors to focus on communication and body language, speak in measured terms and know that you can control and decide what opinion you’d want your future employers to reserve towards you.
