24th– 25th January, 2014 has been about an extravaganza of life time for Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management’s (VJIM) students. Chrysalis, the annual inter-management fest of the college, has always been an affair of color, merriment and carnival. With more than 20 colleges participating in the event this year, Chrysalis lived up to its usual reputation. “Chrysalis”- as the name suggests, is a journey from the nascent- a transformation stage of a butterfly and the fest resonated the idea in every aspect of its 2014 edition.
Revolving around the theme- “GRAFFITI”, Chrysalis’14 expressed the concepts underlying a social and political message, and was also pivoted on the whole genre of artistic expression, based upon spray paint graffiti styles.
The eve of CHRYSALIS ’14:
There was enough anticipation in the air already so when the eve finally arrived, there was buzz all around. 24th January started with the inaugural ceremony and lighting of lamps. It was followed by the “C.K.Prahlad Memorial All India Quiz” competition and one of the most anticipated events of Chrysalis’14- Battle of the Bands. After the intense competition forwarded by various teams in the music war, a group of teenagers emerged as winners- blending into the festive season and lifting the spirit higher.
The Hay Day of Chrysalis’14:
25th January commenced with the formal management events. The day was spotted with brain-wrecking management gigs like B-plan, Brand Khaos and Persona Peritus. Each team was seen fighting for their glory. Alongside, informal events like Tresor Hunt, Dance and Music Buzz were making the pitch of Chrysalis’14 go high by leaps and bounds.
To add to all the merriment, VJIM students had further put up their stalls within the college campus. They offered absolutely lip-smacking food, crazy games, and fancy facilities like gaming, mehandi and tattoo. There was also an eye-opening street play performance by the students on “Issues faced by the women in India” and a flash mob to add the “extra” color to the fest.
The chief guest of the day was the renowned Telugu Film Director- Mr. Shekar Kammula. He delivered a heartfelt speech by narrating instances from his college days. He also introduced us to the campaign of- “I Care I React” – a social consciousness initiative.
Chrysalis’14 finally came to an end with a live music performance by VJIM’s students and a tantalizing dance event by all participating colleges.
