Shabnam Khan from Bareily came to VJIM for a PGDM in Marketing (Major) & Business Analytics. After spending two wonderful years she recently got placed with T.I.M.E as a Management Trainee.
Before she opted for PGDM from VJIM, Hyderabad, she did her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya (class 1st- 12th) and graduation (B.COM) from Andhra University, Vizag. Following which she shifted her base to Hyderabad after getting into VJIM.
To get into T.I.M.E was definitely not a cake walk. Shabnam had to go through group discussion in which the topic she got was “Is Social Media a Boon or Bane?” After that there was a Personal Interview with the people who gave her group the pre-placement talk. The last round was another personal interview but this time with the director at their Secunderabad office.
After skipping through the necessary hoops, she says, “they were looking for a candidate who likes to travel and would be ready to work hard and be good at communicating with people.” She didn’t have to prepare much because she has a fair bit of wanderlust and is comfortable working in shifts.
When asked about what changed pre and post VJIM she says that there was a visible spike in self-confidence, communication skills and her ability to work in a team where she could lead. Going forward, Shabnam would like to be more active in the work place and contribute more. Before being placed with T.I.M.E, she did her SIP from iPublish ATS where her topic was, “Digitizing Student Records of VJIM.”
Since the orientation, VJIM has held a special place in her heart. She also fondly remembers term paper presentations, the photo-shoots and of course and Chrysalis.
The moment the offer landed in her hand, she immediately dialed up her best friend’s number.
Even though she had felt boxed in during the interview, she had made it and it was the biggest joy she had experienced post VJIM.
Before signing off, she tells all her juniors to go through their resumes with a fine toothcomb. Read up and research about the companies. All of them. You can land anyone, after all. Go, read about the company and the profile offered. Be confident but importantly, enjoy the two precious years you have in VJIM and make the most of them. “The life that follows later is going to be a dream,” assures a happy Shabnam.
