– An interview with student Veera Shivani, VJIM, Hyderabad interning with Aditya Birla Money
“To begin with, I went through the job description that we were sent to get an idea of what my preparations should be. Then I prepared in-depth about finance terms that were related to the job description. I also went through the company’s history to find out what they are all about,” says Veera Shivani, harping on the importance of preparation before the all important SIP interview. She was certainly rewarded for hers as she bagged a prestigious SIP with Aditya Birla Money.

Given her interest in the world of Finance, Veera had decided to give the interview her best shot when she realized that the company was looking for interns in the field of her interest. She takes us through her initial thought process when she says, “When I got the mail from our college that the company was looking for interns I asked some questions about the brand name. I realized it was a top rung company that would offer me brilliant opportunities. So I worked hard to get the internship.”
But all her preparations would have come to a naught had she not performed at the crucial interview session. Veera reminiscences about the moment she was picked for the internship. “It was more of a JAM session where we had to talk about the person whose name we drew on a chit. Talking spontaneously for five minutes is not an easy task but I managed to do that and I think it helped me crack the interview,” she confesses.
Now as she gets her first taste of corporate life experience, Veera hopes to keep a good balance of solid preparation and spontaneity to shine during the internship. “Working with such a renowned name is a big deal. I think by the time I wrap the internship, it will surface out to be a huge learning curve for me and I am trying to makw the most out of this opportunity. I want to learn from the professionals in the field and rise up to the tasks,” she ends brimming with confidence.
