Annual Events

The institute organizes an annual alumni meet wherein students who have studied in our institute in the last two decade come back home and touch base with the faculties and students of different batches.

Chrysalis

Chrysalis which is organized and conducted by the legions of the VJIM fraternity is one of the most vibrant events in the college calendar as an event of this magnitude becomes a platform for young budding managers to rub shoulders with other best minds across institutions of the country. This annual management fest has become a long-standing tradition at VJIM and we take great credence in claiming that we have the best corporate houses sponsoring our event. Also, the event attracts students from across institutes of the country from different backgrounds.

C. K Prahalad Memorial National Business Quiz Competition

It is a national level quiz competition which has historically seen participation from teams across the country. Following are other relevant information about the event.

Eligibility: Only legitimate B-School, Universities and the Colleges are allowed to participate in the competition. Each B-School/University/College may nominate maximum two teams.

Prizes

  • First Prize : Rs 25,000
  • Second Prize : Rs 15,000
  • Third Prize : Rs 10,000

Teams: Each team will consist of two students.

Conduct of the Competition: The competition will be conducted in two rounds:

  • Written Preliminary
  • Finale (Top 6 Teams)

Peter F. Drucker All India Debate

Competition
Peter. F. Drucker All India Debate Competition is organized every year for the purpose of promoting the debate culture across the country. Following are other relevant information about the event.

Eligibility: Only legitimate B-School, Universities and the Colleges are allowed to participate in the competition. Each B-School/University/College may nominate may nominate any number of teams

Prizes

  • First Prize : Rs 20,000
  • Second Prize : Rs 15,000
  • Third Prize : Rs 10,000

Teams: Each team will consist of two students.

Conduct of the Competition: The competition will be conducted in two rounds as under:

Round 1: Round 1: Teams selected for the competition will be grouped into four groups, depending on the number of registrations. If there are more than 30 teams, there might be a filtration based on 2-minute JAM. The selected teams will debate in their own groups and the four best teams will be selected for the finals. Topics for this round will be displayed in the college website (www.vjim.edu.in) on 16.11.2016. One member of each team will speak for the motion and other against the motion. Each member shall speak for 5 minutes, so each team gets 10 minutes.The sequence of participating teams will be decided through a draw. At the end of this phase, topic for the Final round shall be announced.

Final Round : There will be four teams, eight speakers in final. The topics and Rules & Regulation for this round will be disclosed at the end of Round 1.

Debaters’ Conduct: All Competitors are expected to adhere to the debate rules and conduct themselves with dignity. A debater who attempts to dominate or be rude to his opponents will lose points. Desperation is not persuasion.

Judging: Two judges shall be present at each debate who will judge each debate in a fair and responsible manner. Decision made by the judges is final.

Evaluation Criteria: Debates will be evaluated on the following criteria:-

  • Contents
  • Logical and orderly presentation of arguments.
  • Rebutting/Answering question from opposite team
  • Delivery

Topics for Prelims to be conducted on 18.11.2016

  1. India is on track to reach Vision 2020.
  2. Media focuses more on sensationalism.

Participants will choose a chit from two chits, with the above two topics mentioned on them.
The topics for the finals on the 19th will be shared on the 18th.
